The distance we must keep between one another
Consecutive months I’ve spent at home
Numbers of the dead
2020 has left me obsessed with numbers
2 — The number of normal months I had in my new city before the world shut down
3.5 — The number of donuts I can eat in a sitting before getting a bellyache
4.85 — The average distance I walked around my neighborhood this summer
8.15 — The number of minutes that officer Chauvin held his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck
3 — The number of times he called out for his momma
1 million — The amount of money I would pay to be able to snap my fingers and magically return the world to “normal”
If this past year has taught me anything, it’s that every second counts
Memories are made in an instant
The world can change in a moments notice
Honestly, it’s going to take most of this year to process the past one but here’s what I know for sure… I’m walking into 2021 timidly
Softly
Gently
And overflowing with gratitude
